Yep, skype is the popular application to communicate with people in the world. Video chat, make international calls, instant message, we can do these activities with Skype.




















Skype is available for desktop computers, notebook and tablet computers and other mobile devices, including mobile phones.

Teaching Short Notice Using Facebook.

Facebook? In nowadays, who does not have a Facebook account? Even the elementary students already have at least a Facebook account.

Everyday we go to facebook.com to see our timeline that contains our friends' activity.

Since students nowadays get along with Facebook, why don't we use facebook to teaching English?

This short lesson plan is provided to teach Short Notice using Facebook.

  1. Teacher gives students some picture about short notice in the class. 
  2. Then, the teacher explains about the characteristic of short notice. 
  3. To measure the students’ understanding about short notice, students are asked to find short notice around them such as in the park, school, etc. 
  4. After find the short notice, students have to take a picture and give explanation about what the short notice mean. 
  5. The picture and explanation are uploaded in the group Facebook (Class’s group). 
  6. The teacher will give the feedback from their posting. 

It is the easiest way to get their attention to the task. Instead of asking the students to answer some question in worksheet, in a paper, in the class, it is much better if we use Facebook to collect their assignment. 

Teaching Procedure Text using YouTube.

YouTube is the most famous website for watching video. Any kinds of video we can find there. Is YouTube only for entertaining?

Have ever though to teaching English through YouTube? I have an idea for teaching English through YouTube.


  1. Teacher have prepared a video about how to make a coffee and then upload it on YouTube.
  2. Teacher shows the video to the students.
  3. Teacher asks students to observe a video about how to make a coffee in the teacher channel (Youtube). 
  4. Then, students are asked to collecting information about this video such as: what is the goal of this video, what are the material/ingredients that the presenter’s need, what are the steps to make a coffee based on this video. 
  5. In the end of the lesson, students are asked to make a video about how to make/ how to use something and upload it in their YouTube channel. 
  6. The teacher will give the feedback from the video. 

Why we use YouTube?
Instead of book that only have a text, we use YouTube to get the students' interested in our material. Once we have got their attention, then we will be eased to serve the material.

Teaching Recount Text through Instagram App.

Overview:
Senior High School students in the first semester of class 8. We will use social media especially Instagram to increase students reading skill related with recount text. They will practice how to make recount text dealing with their favorite place using Instagram app.

Objective:
Students will be able to write recount text about their favorite place using social media application (Instagram)

Time: Not more than 45 minutes.

Materials and equipment: Cellphone, Instagram app

Activity
Pre: students will be introduced to recount text using power point and video from the teacher. First the teacher introduces about the element of recount text using power point. Then the students are showed a video about someone experience and they are asked to analyze the element of recount text based on what has explained by the teacher.

Whilst: Students are asked to upload their picture in Instagram and write their experience about the picture and take a hash-tag #myfafoviteplace #Bclass. Students should comment on three picture of their friend.

Post:

  1. Students are asked to analyze their friends experience whether they achieve those element of recount text or not. It is like a mini review of their friends posting and the review is posted in the form of comment. It is possible to add some opinion or comment about their friend’s posting.  
  2. Students have to take screenshot the comment or review, then they have to send the screenshot to the teacher email, or upload in instagram by using #reviewtest #recount_text #assignment.

Assessment
Students will be considered as success by writing the recount text if they write the text using the element of recount text appropriately.

Video Conference



Today we do not need to come to the specific place only for doing a meeting. Meeting now can be conducted in anywhere without come together in the same place.

Yap. We can do it with video conference. Video conference is just like a common call. The difference is when we use video conference, means that we can see the person that we called. And, adding conference after video, means that we can use video call with more than 2 people.

Say good bye to the traditional meeting. Welcome to the new world where you can meeting at every where and every time.

Talking about tools that can be used for video conference, we can use Google Hangout or Skype.
